Michelle Sangster

President & Chief Operating Officer

Michelle brings more than 30 years of leadership and experience to the Property and Casualty insurance industry. Her career has been defined by consistency, knowledge, and trusted relationships across the insurance marketplace. In recognition of her professional excellence, Michelle was named one of Insurance Journal’s “Top Agents of the Year” in 2023.

Since founding SJP Financial Group in 2021, Michelle has played a central role in shaping the firm’s direction and overseeing its operations. She leads long-term planning, financial management, and business development while remaining actively involved at the producer level, personally servicing a book of business.

Michelle’s background includes extensive experience in wholesale underwriting, broker negotiations, risk analysis, and agency operations. Prior to establishing SJP Financial Group, she served as an underwriter with Swett & Crawford/Aon Corporation and later transitioned to the retail brokerage side, ultimately rising to executive leadership positions. Over more than two decades, she managed agency operations while supporting growth initiatives and maintaining operational discipline.

Licensed as a Property & Casualty Producer, Michelle is also a member of The Institutes CPCU Society, reflecting her ongoing commitment to professional development and industry standards.

Michelle is known for her hands-on leadership, strong operational insight, and long-standing industry relationships. Her ability to balance strategic oversight with active client engagement allows her to lead with clarity and purpose, ensuring SJP Financial Group remains responsive and well-positioned for the clients and organizations it serves.

Michael M. Jones, CIC

Executive Vice President

Michael is an experienced insurance advisor with over 25 years in the industry and more than four decades in sales and marketing management. Throughout his career, he has worked with a wide range of organizations, including nonprofit and governmental entities, public sector organizations, cultural institutions, colleges and universities, accounting firms, and newspaper publishers.

As Executive Vice President of SJP Financial Group, Michael provides leadership in the development and oversight of the firm’s commercial insurance operations. His responsibilities include strategic planning, underwriting negotiations, market placement, and the continued expansion of commercial product offerings for both prospective and existing clients.

Michael is known for his depth of industry knowledge and his ability to evaluate risk thoroughly and objectively. He works closely with clients and insurance carriers to help structure coverage solutions that are tailored to each organization’s needs.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Temple University and is a Licensed Property & Casualty Producer. Michael has also earned the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation, reflecting his commitment to continued education and professional merit.

With an established presence in the industry and a steady advisory method, Michael is a trusted resource to clients and a key leader within SJP Financial Group.
