Michelle Sangster, ARM

Commercial Insurance Broker

Michelle Sangster is a licensed commercial property and casualty insurance broker and Associate in Risk Management (ARM) with more than 30 years of experience in the insurance industry. Her career has been defined by technical expertise, sound judgment, and trusted relationships with clients, carriers, and underwriters. Michelle founded SJP Financial Group, drawing on decades of commercial insurance and business leadership experience to serve commercial clients. In recognition of her professional excellence, Michelle was named one of Insurance Journal’s Top Agents of the Year in 2023.

Through SJP Financial Group, Michelle managed and serviced a commercial book of business while overseeing the firm’s operations. Her work included helping clients evaluate coverage options, navigate the insurance marketplace, and develop insurance programs aligned with their organizations and long-term objectives.

Michelle’s background includes wholesale underwriting, retail brokerage, carrier negotiations, coverage analysis, risk assessment, account and book management, and agency leadership. She began her career on the wholesale side with Swett & Crawford/Aon Corporation, advancing into underwriting before transitioning to retail brokerage, where she held leadership roles while continuing to serve clients.

Michelle believes insurance is about more than placing coverage. It is about building relationships, understanding each client’s unique needs, and providing practical guidance that helps organizations make informed decisions with confidence.
