Michelle Sangster

Commercial Insurance Broker

Michelle Sangster is a commercial property and casualty insurance broker with more than 30 years of experience in the insurance industry. Her career has been defined by technical expertise, sound judgment, and trusted relationships with clients, carriers, and underwriters. Michelle founded SJP Financial Group, drawing on decades of commercial insurance and business leadership experience to serve the needs of commercial clients. In recognition of her professional excellence, Michelle was named one of Insurance Journal’s Top Agents of the Year in 2023.

Through SJP Financial Group, Michelle managed and serviced a commercial book of business while overseeing the firm’s operations. Her work included helping clients evaluate coverage options, navigate the insurance marketplace, and develop insurance programs aligned with their organizations and long-term objectives.

Michelle’s background includes wholesale underwriting, retail brokerage, carrier negotiations, coverage analysis, risk assessment, account and book management, and agency leadership. She began her career as an underwriter with Swett & Crawford/Aon Corporation before transitioning to the retail brokerage side of the business, where she advanced into leadership roles while continuing to serve clients.

Licensed as a Property & Casualty Producer, Michelle is currently pursuing the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation, reflecting her commitment to continuous learning and professional excellence.
